Be still, and know that I am God. — Psalm 46:10
He met me in the silence
After losing my job last spring, I spent weeks pacing my kitchen at 3 AM, certain my life was over. One morning I sat on the back porch with nothing but a cold cup of coffee, and I felt it — not a voice, but a stillness so warm it felt like an arm around my shoulder. I had been praying for answers. He gave me His presence instead, and that was so much more.
Love your neighbor as yourself. — Mark 12:31
The neighbor I almost ignored
I had walked past Mr. Adeyemi's gate for six years. One Tuesday I felt nudged to knock. He opened the door in tears — his wife had passed the night before, and he hadn't told a soul. We sat together for hours. I have learned that obedience is rarely loud. Sometimes it's just a knock.
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted. — Psalm 34:18
A prayer in a hospital hallway
My daughter was in surgery and I was unraveling on a plastic chair when a stranger sat beside me and asked if she could pray. I nodded because I had no words left. She prayed for ten minutes and walked away. I never got her name. I want her to know — her obedience carried me that day.
